The Purple Jay team continues with the festivities while celebrating Christmas at Peckham Rye’s fair.
It’s safe to say the event was an excellent success, with parents, children and all of the PJ staff getting in the spirit through a range of fun activities! The evening was not short of things to do…
OUR FESTIVE THEME
Keeping with the theme, the Peckham Rye team embodied nature in an enchanting way… From using paper packaging at the market stall to logs as seats. The garden was even adorned with twinkling lights emulating stars, the evening was not short of magic!
ELEMENTS OF THE EVENT
THE ROOMS
One of my favourite parts of the evening was the small hubs dedicated to different activities, in the nursery’s garden. One for the market, another for refreshments and cookie decorating and of course, who can forget Santa’s oh so cosy grotto.
The garden was treated as its own Winter haven with lights and artwork made by the children. The leftover snow added just the Christmassy touch needed to complete the fair!
ACTIVITIES
The night was filled with fun entertainment and activities for both the children and parents to enjoy.
A favourite of the night was the gingerbread decorating station – where the children got to sit around and give their gingerbread biscuits a complete festive makeover!
Throughout the night, the children had a surprise visit from Santa! They all took lots of pictures with him in Santa’s cosy grotto – cleverly decorated by the Peckham Rye team.
Later, the children got the chance to be transformed into an animal of their choice at the face-painting station. Among us, we had some bright orange tigers and glittery butterflies!
CHRISTMAS MARKET
The Christamas market was a huge hit this evening – with children and parents buying the majority of things for sale!
From freshly baked scones, cookies decorated by the children and goodie bags for each child to take home with them, there was lots on offer.
The Peckham Rye team took the fair to the next level by having a raffle and quizzes with fun prizes for the winners!
FOOD AND TREATS
The guests got to end their night, gathered together enjoying refreshments and catching up in the beautifully lit garden.
Those who weren’t completely full from the cupcakes and cookies, had a chance to enjoy a savoury treat. With a choice of fruit, crackers, cheeses and more as everyone washed down their snacks with juice.
Oh, and who can forget, a minced pie for all, creating the perfect end to a fabulous evening!
